The Anabaptists Churches

of Myanmar

“Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit
of the grace of God bestowed on
the churches of Myanmar.”

                                                                                        -2 Corinthians 8:1

As with the work in Africa and Pakistan, Church history will bear record that the Anabaptists have never entered upon Asiatic soil in any major evangelists work in the history of the Church. You will find Mennonite churches in various countries since the Mennonites have always been willing to work with the World Council of Churches and other apostate liberal, ecumenical groups that have always been allowed anywhere Catholics are allowed. As stated repeatedly, and confirmed through almost 2,000 years of church history, Mennonites are not Anabaptists in even the farthest stretch of the imaginations. But Anabaptists have never established a work of any notice or footing in any country of Asia. Adoniram Judson established the foundational work upon Burmese soil at Rangoon, once he converted over to the Baptists. But as with the Mennonites mentioned above, Bapitst are not Anabaptists in any stretch of the imagination, and the Anabaptists, dating back to the very first one (Acts 19:1-6) have to date, been "forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia" (Acts 16:6).
Until now!
Nevertheless, under the blessing and direction of God Almighty, through the never ending work of the Holy Spirit of God, the gospel of Jesus Christ and open air evangelism as broken upon the country of Myanmar. April of 2009 discovered its close with the establishment of The Anabaptists Churches of Myanmar, headquartered out of Yangon, under the over sight of the National Bishop of Myanmar, Dr. James Hre Ling.

On May 24, 2009, the Anabaptists saints of Yangon held their Inauguration Services of the Anabpaptists Churches of Myanmar, with ministers and Christians joining in much prayer, singing and preaching as they dedicated themselves and their churches to the cause of Jesus Christ as Anabaptists for all eternity.

In addition to the oversight and care of the churches (2 Corinthians 11:28), the Anabaptists Churches of Myanmar operates an Anabaptists Orphanage located in Yangon, to care for the fatherless.

As with any work throughout Asia, the political and economic climates make Biblical Christianity many times very difficult, and coupled with this, the judgments of God upon the open, national idolatry came crashing inland on May 2, 2008 with what the New Testament calls "Euroclydon" (Acts 27:14). The Cyclone Nargis, the largest recorded cyclone to ever hit Burma, destroyed everything in its path, and killed close to a million people, from which the country of Myanmar has yet to recover. As with all Anabaptists, the brethren work night and day to provide for one another during and after such disasters, from which God opens many great doors and effectuals for the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Walking in the steps of Andoniram Judson

"I'll never live in Boston. I have much farther to go!"
                                                                                            -Andoniram Judson,
                                                                                              Upon being asked why
                                                                                              he gave up
                                                                                              a pastorate in Boston
                                                                                              to preach in Burma

Adoniram Judson spent years in a Burmese prison, shackled to the walls, where he only ate when his faithful wife Ann journeyed long through the jungles to bring him food. Ann Judson had recovered her husband's Burmese manuscript of the Bible that he had worked so many countless hours to translate. It had been discarded by the Burmese troops when they destroyed and ransacked the meeting house. The precious manuscript had been thrown into a pile of rubbish, inside a sack and was found by one of the Burmese converts. Ann Judson had the audacity to sew it into a pillow, and travelled through the jungles to where the Burmese soldiers had moved her husband to a squalid prison, and convinced the prison guards to allow her to give it to her husband to sleep on at night. And for 2-1/2 years, the translator of the Burmese Bible slept in those squalid bamboo prisons with his head upon the only copy of the Burmese Bible manuscript. That wonderful work lives on long after the coronation of both Adoniram and Ann Judson, the pioneer preachers of Christ Jesus in Burma, now called Myanmar.

Bishop Ling and his dear wife have an undaunting task before them for all of Myanmar. Bishop Ling over sees twelve ministerial provinces throughout the country of Myanmar, and is already working stedfastly to appoint provincial bishops for the work of the ministry. Very little has changed since the days of Adoniram Judson, with the Hindus still stooped into their tragic idolatry. Dr. Ling just recently preached openly throughout the annual water festival, where the Hindus with the support of the Myanmar government, offered animal sacrafices throughout the country, their eyes being blind that their gods of nothing have done nothing but destroy their country under the judgment of God Almighty. Pray fervently Brethren, that God will open the eyes of the Burmese people of Myanmar, and turn them from darkness to Light.
